Murial asks Percy, Grumgizt and Miles to go to Tarnwood to investigate a mysterious fog.
On the way Miles decides to turn back but Korrag, Hathran and Garven joins instead, soon after at night while investigating a graveyard, Hathran who’s on guard duty hears something and without taking his animal companion or waking anyone else up goes out to investigate. He runs into a phase spider which quickly kills him. The party discovers him while looking around for him and manages to best the spider.
When they arrive in Cambridge they decide to investigate some crumbling buildings and while on the lookout a thief Nilker Werpol tries to steal Garven’s pouch while he’s asleep. Percy catches the guy easily and manages to intimidate him into helping with the investigation. The day after he leads them to an inn where they find Tonashriliwar and a fight ensues where a monk from the guild, Mina joins in.
As they leave the city after having dealt with the kobold, they run into a giant which Garven easily keeps up with and bests, but Mina is killed in the fight.
As they get closer to Tarnwood the fog has spread out and they experiment with it to see what it does. Figuring out that going into the fog transports you somewhere else while you’re in the area of the fog, they keep trying to get all the possible variations, and in one of the attempts Percy gets in contact with a wizard in a tower. Looking out the window he manages to extrapolate the location of the tower due to his cartographing skills. Asking around in the city they hear that someone called ‘Kaelith’ in Ruda might know more about the fog, so they decide to go down there to check things out.
Finding Kaelith in Ruda and passing through her maze, Percy manages to get her to agree to teach him part of the Dragon Fist techniques he trains in as a monk as well as her assistance in the fog affair. But first they have to find a Calcite mine and clear it.
On the way back to the guild they pass near Tarnwood and see that the fog is spreading and demons have appeared, they manage to flee from one wielding lightning. When they arrive they give report on their findings and decide to check out that tower they saw while in the fog. Here Garven decides to leave the party as Corkaury Dardragon, Marc Iessirin and Han Ignigena joins. They pick up some other minor missions they can do while travelling north to Kolgath.
- Stop a ghost
- Stop a Vampire
- Investigate some ‘bubbles’ rising from the ground
They decide to sail north, so first they travel south to the river to find a ship. While on the ship they sailed past Maelstrom‘s ship, which Marc deemed threatening and attacked, after a fierce battle Maelstrom died and the group stored him in a bag of holding and ran back to the guild to figure out what to do. They decided to bury his corpse close to the border of Erest from Ruda’s side, thus blaming the lawless area and specifically the Dragon Guard. After that they returned to the guild to report and then went on to solve the ghost problem.
Arriving at the village where the ghost was reciding the group borrowed a holy symbol (which they forgot to return until much later), dealing with the undead, Percy found a dagger (which belonged to elven royalty in the past), then the party uses a harrowing deck of cards that Han had managed to get his hands on.
The Cyclone (avoided being drawn to the plane of air thanks to Han)
The Owl x2
The Cricket (+30 speed)
The Vision x2
The Hidden Truth
The Twin (Fixed via potion)
The Crows (saved Murial)
The Empty Throne
The Twin (Fixed via potion)
The Mountain Man
The Uprising (9 halfling followers)
The Brass Dwarf (immunity to fire, vulnearable to acid)
Having drawn their cards the party goes to Kawald where they roam the streets and Han Ignigena discovers he’s become a count! Using his new found status he helps Corkaury getting married to his efreeti princess.
Deciding they have to continue north to deal with the vampire they get accosted by The Living Flame king of Kolgath who wants the earring they got from Maelstrom, after a lengthy battle where the party only survives due to Percy managing to call upon Murial for help the king gets back the earring. During the confusion at the time Corkaury gets his hands on a white lens that Maelstrom had that Marc had in his possession.
They then arrive at the city where the vampire is and after a lengthy affair where they get a criminal blamed for a fake vampire attack and they defeat the true vampire Dorn Windriver (coward at heart) and gets him resurrected where his penance is to go with the party. Corkaury takes him as his cohort and they go off to Kolgath.
To get to Kolgath they have to go through a mine to pass through the mountains, there they meet a strange being that wants one of Marc’s followers, refusing it at first, they convince it to lead them through the mines before turning on it and killing it.
On the other side of the mountains inside Kolgath they turn east towards the tower. As Korrag and Marc stay behind to protect the followers of Marc the rest of the party (Percy, Corkaury and Han) investigate the tower and through some acrobatics of Percy they infiltrate it. Inside they discover Zandar Travill whom they fight, initially they almost defeat him, but Percy’s insistence on dragging him back to be interogated backfires on them and he gets free, when they track him down he’s got his hand on an artefact (Orb of Dragonkind) with which he kicks their collected arses. Han uses his magic item to disrupt the magic circle that Zandar is standing in, causing the entire thing to explode (killing Han in the process), then Percy grabs Corkaury (and Caesin) and Corkaury dimension doors them out and they leg it (earlier they put both Han’s and Dorn’s corpses into the Bag of Holding). Arriving back to the cave where Marc and Korrag are waiting for them in they decide to split up (easier for the others to get away if they aren’t with the two whom Zandar is chasing).
While on the run, Zandar tracks down Percy and Corkaury and attacks them, after binding them up he steals the dagger from the crypt and “part of Percy’s soul” (which shellshocks him) and leaves afterwards. Afterwards Percy, Corkaury and Caesin goes south where they pass through Sunstride where they meet Eran Farivair who senses Percy’s peril and decides to go with them to help restore him.
Arriving at the location for the bubbles mission they discover it’s related to Kobolds and a Dragon, there they meet Tonashriliwar again which pulls Percy out of his shellshock (through talking his more native draconic which helps him back on track), after having made trouble with the kobolds and been taking to their leader (before mentioned Dragon), they end up having to run for their life again with Eran and Corkaury hiding out in the Bag of Holding with a bottle of air while Percy runs (being the fastest and most stealthiest in the party).
Arriving back in Kawald they get Han and Dorn ressurected and Han decides to stay in Kawald to take care of his mansion and figure out how his new status works. Then they go back to Solam where they meet a strange elderly guy going by the name of Gandor Hennlik who wants to meet with Murial, Percy directs him to an inn (The Laughing Cow, run by his friends the Blacks) and lets Murial know about it while reporting on everything else that happened.
After a social evening with Murial and Gandor they meet up in the guild hall and find out that Gandor has a dragon egg that he wants to trade with the lens that Corkaury has in his possession. The group as a whole decides against this deal (Percy was torn about it) and Gandor leaves after settling his affairs with Murial (and telling her that her brother and his wife are expecting a new baby). Corkaury then puts on the lens for the first time and meets Cole Brandew who tells them a bit about where he died and what he was after (The Black Book of Lore). Murial wants to know what happened to Brandew (as the intelligent item doesn’t know) so the party decides to get a proper ship and go up there.
